Multi-Disciplinary Studies of Biomolecular Condensates
Joint postdoctoral training positions are available in the laboratories of Drs. Qian Cong, Matthew Parker, Michael Rosen, Ben Sabari and Jeffrey Woodruff at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. We seek to recruit outstanding young scientists who are eager to work collaboratively between at least two of our labs to perform multi-disciplinary studies of biomolecular condensates.
Our groups were recently awarded a four-year Catalyst for Discovery grant from the Welch Foundation, focused on collaborative studies of the specificity and function of biomolecular condensates involved in transcription (Lyons, Cell, 2023), DNA replication initiation (Adiji, Nucl. Acids Res., 2024) and centrosome formation (Rios, J. Cell Biol., 2024). Together we bring a wide range of approaches and technologies to bear on these problems: biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, microfluidics, cross-linking/mass spectrometry, artificial intelligence, and protein design. Postdocs will have the opportunity to learn and work in an environment where these tools are deployed in integrated fashion to answer leading-edge questions in condensate biology.
Candidates are encouraged to examine our website, propose a primary and at least one secondarymentor, and provide a one-page description of a potential project that could span these labs, highlighting the value and implementation of a multi-disciplinary approach. Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. and have prior experience in experimental and/or computational methods in the areas noted above. Starting salary will be dependent on experience and UT Southwestern Medical Center institutional policies.
