Molecular Oncology Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab of Dr. Jiandong Chen

The research interest of the lab is to study the structures, regulation, and therapeutic targeting of p53 tumor suppressor pathway for cancer treatment. Ongoing work involves development of novel PROTACs, targeting of temperature-sensitive mutant p53, transcription potential of mutant p53, MDMX regulation of Wnt signaling. Position Highlights:

  • The lab has significant expertise and provides mentorship in the areas of p53/MDM2/MDMX phosphorylation signaling, ubiquitination, transcriptional regulation, and drug discovery using biochemical/cellular assays and mouse tumor models.
  • Extensive collaborations with chemists and structural biologists working in drug discovery, providing a rich environment for training and career development.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • With a strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology.
  • Experience with mouse tumor xenograft models or genetically modified mouse models.
  • Experience in analysis of novel drug activity and mechanisms.
  • Competent in cell culture, protein analysis, CRISPR and recombinant DNA techniques.
  • Recent PhD graduate in biochemistry or molecular biology.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and performs experiments directed towards answering specific scientific questions with limited supervision under the general guidance of Investigator.
  • Interacts closely with Investigator and other researchers within the Investigator laboratory and conducts relevant background research including literature searches and reviews.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • MD or PhD in biochemistry or molecular biology is required.
  • Should have at least one first author publication.
