We have a Postdoctoral Fellowship position available in Dr. Russell Rockne’s multidisciplinary research team at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer. For more information on Dr. Rockne’s research, please visit here.

The Division of Mathematical Oncology and Computational Systems Biology at the Department of Computational and Quantitative Medicine aims to apply mathematics, physics, and evolution-based research to clinical care in oncology. We are a dynamic, diverse group dedicated to advancing mathematical and computational methods, with a focus on translating our findings to positively impact patient care at City of Hope.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Work independently and in interdisciplinary teams for translational research.
  • Present findings at Division meetings and project-specific subgroups regularly.
  • Showcase research at national and international conferences spanning mathematics, biology, and clinical society meetings.
  • Adapt existing mathematical models or develop new ones for problem-solving.
  • Program and write codes for data processing and solving nonlinear equations.
  • Learn enough biology to engage with hematology experts.
  • Mentor students.
  • Communicate scientific findings and mathematical concepts to technical and lay audiences in written and verbal forms.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with genome sequencing data (ex. DNA, RNA, ATAC seq)
  • Experience with stochastic dynamical systems and probability theory
  • Experience or familiarity with hematopoiesis or hematologic malignancies preferred

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $34.00 - $37.55 / hour
