Postdoctoral Fellow – BioEngineering Approaches to Improve Cancer Immunotherapy

The Dunne Lab combines expertise in cell therapy, biomaterials, drug delivery, immunology, and medical imaging in order to develop novel cancer treatment strategies. The lab’s primary research focus is engineering micro- and nano-scale drug carriers for the purpose of controlling immune cell phenotype in order to alter the immunological state of the tumor microenvironment and ultimately enhance the efficacy of cell therapies for the treatment of cancer. Understanding temporal changes in whole body and intratumoral distribution of cell therapies and drug carriers is fundamental to this research. We are further interested in understanding the effect of externally applied stimuli (e.g. radiotherapy and/or hyperthermia) on the distribution kinetics of therapeutic agents.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has expertise in at least one of the following areas: nano- or micro-particle fabrication and testing, cell therapy, primary cell culture, murine cancer models, tumor immunology.
  • Has experience with chemical biology laboratory techniques such as: HPLC, cell culture, ELISA, flow cytometry, cell culture.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisiplinary team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform experiments in order to answer challenging scientific questions.
  • Analyze and present data in written and oral form.
  • Present research findings to the Moffitt community and at national scientific meetings.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Assist with secondary projects relevant to the research goals of the Dunne Lab.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • PhD in Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medical Biophysics, or a related field is required.
  • Applicants should have at least one first Author publication or preprint.
