Job Description

Summary

This is a postdoctoral fellowship position for candidates with MD or PhD in Biochemistry or Human Biology discipline in the US (or completed the credential evaluation, if PhD was obtained outside the US), eligible to study/work in the US (or completion of residency in Clinical Pathology) and the candidate will participate in a 2 year clinical chemistry fellowship training program at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital

Job Duties

  • Serves the Department of Pathology & Immunology and its clinical, academic, and research missions at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). 
  • Provides, in conjunction with the Medical Directors, clinical service and conducts research in the area of clinical chemistry and trains in areas of clinical chemistry, molecular microbiology and pathology in the clinical laboratories.
  • It is expected that this person will complete the 2-year ComACC-accredited training program at TCH- and Baylor-affiliated hospitals and take the Clinical Chemistry certification examination from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
  • Presents data at local and national meetings.
  • Supervises residents and medical students.
  • Serves as co-author on publications.
  • In addition to adhering to the policies set forth by TCH and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), the person must understand and act on the need for discretion due to the sensitive nature of research involved. This person will report to Sridevi Devaraj, PhD, DABCC, FACB (Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program Director) and will be based in the Abercrombie Building/West Tower at TCH.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of MD or PhD in Biochemistry or Human Biology discipline in the US (or completed the credential evaluation, if PhD was obtained outside the US); at least 1 year of postdoctoral experience (experience with clinical research and/or mass spectrometry is desirable);
  • Eligible to study/work in the US (or completion of residency in Clinical Pathology)
