Job Description

Dr. Cheri Levinson, the Director of the Eating Anxiety Treatment (EAT) lab and Dr. Sara Bufferd, Director of the Child Anxiety and Mood Lab in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville (UofL) are appointing two full-time post-doctoral fellows to work on a National Institute of Mental Health R01-supported study (pending funding) testing how child anxiety and interoceptive deficits contribute to onset of eating disorders and disordered eating behaviors. This position is ideal for fellows interested in developmental psychopathology and comorbidity between anxiety and eating disorders. This position will involve working with children and parents, conducting diagnostic, behavioral, psychophysiological, and ecological momentary assessments, supervising and mentoring graduate students, coordinators and undergraduate team members, working on grant proposals and publications, assisting with data preparation and analysis, and working with a large interdisciplinary team at UofL. The post-doctoral fellows will work very closely with Drs. Levinson and Bufferd on a day-to-day basis.

Opportunities for involvement in grants, publications, and presentations at national conferences are plentiful. Funds for conference travel and professional development are available. Support for writing individual (e.g., K award) and collaborative grants are available. Other opportunities are available if desired, including teaching, supervision toward licensure, additional clinical experiences, and community engagement. This position is renewable for up to five years pending performance. Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to at least two years. Salary is consistent with NIMH salary levels.

Minimum experience is a doctorate in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, education, developmental science, social work, or a related field. This post-doctoral fellowship will help propel fellows into tenure-track faculty positions, research faculty positions, or combined clinical/research positions. Ideal candidates would be those who are highly motivated to take the lead in publishing papers and presenting at conferences, have strong skills in statistics and scientific writing, have experience working with child research participants, and work well both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
