Job Description

Summary

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in Dr. Benjamin Arenkiel’s lab for motivated and interested individuals. The ideal candidate will know or be able to rapidly learn both human and mouse tissue handling, molecular biology techniques, and in vivo genetic manipulations. The candidate is expected to quickly attain the ability to independently plan, perform, and analyze molecular, cellular, and in vivo experiments under the guidance of the PI and in association with other lab members.

Job Duties

  • Plans, performs, and analyzes experiments involving molecular and cellular biology under mentorship of the PI.
  • Performs rodent surgeries.
  • Handles and processes ex vivo human and rodent tissue.
  • Engineers, packages, and utilizes viral vectors to deliver gene therapies.
  • Performs in vivo genetic manipulations.
  • Maintains cell and tissue cultures with both human and rodent tissue and cell lines.
  • Writes manuscripts.
  • Supervises rotating students and undergraduates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in physiology, genetics, pharmacology, or neuroscience
  • Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques
  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, independent, and cooperative.
