Job Description

Summary

The Jankowsky lab seeks a postdoctoral fellow to join us in studying how lysosomal protein TMEM106B protects the brain against tauopathy. We've shown that constitute deletion of this protein accelerates tau accumulation, microgliosis, neurodegeneration, and cognitive decline in a mouse model of frontotemporal dementia. We are now using cell-type specific targeting strategies to test whether TMEM exerts its protective effect through neurons or microglia. Researchers will work as part of a team combining mouse genetic engineering, viral brain transduction, neurohistology, and basic biochemistry to understand dementia pathogenesis and develop potential treatments. You can learn more about our lab and ongoing projects at our website: https://www.bcm.edu/research/labs-and-centers/faculty-labs/joanna-jankowsky-lab
