Job Description
The Radiochemistry Group in the Chemical & Fuel Cycle Technologies Division is seeking Postdoctoral Appointees to perform laboratory research in aqueous actinide chemistry relevant to the nuclear fuel cycle and the development of separation flowsheets. The candidate should be familiar with fundamental separation chemistry including solvent extraction and column chromatography, able to analyze data, and present results in written and oral form. Experience in additive manufacturing and computational fluid dynamics is welcome.
Position Requirements
Ph.D. degree level with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent in chemistry, chemical or nuclear engineering or a related field
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the field of radiochemistry including radionuclide separations using solvent extraction, and analysis by spectroscopic and radioanalytical methods is essential.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in general analytical methods and good analytical practices
Knowledge and experience in thermodynamic and kinetic modeling
Laboratory experience in safe handling of radioactive materials in hoods, gloveboxes, or shielded cells
Experience in the use of analytical tools such as a NaI and HPGe gamma detectors, liquid scintillation counter, UV-Vis, FTIR, Raman, NMR, XRD spectroscopies, X-ray and neutron scattering
Demonstrated creative and proactive approach towards scientific problem solving.
Demonstrated ability to carry out independent and collaborative research in a multidisciplinary team with the ability to meet deliverables and milestones.
Strong oral and written communication skills
