Job Summary
A training position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory with a focus on cell communication and synthetic biology. Participate in experimental design, conducting collaborative student orientated experiments, using cutting edge molecular and genetic laboratory tools, the presentation of data at conferences, and publishing in scientific journals. Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Design and execute experiments - The postdoc will lead a project investigating synthetic Notch activation in the wing imaginal disc of Drosophila. This involves using cutting edge fly genetics, confocal imaging, and molecular biology techniques, together with significant experimental design and interpretation. Develop and execute experiments related to Molecular cloning, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digests and DNA isolation. Experimental design and results analysis. Confocal microscopy and image analysis. Scientific writing - The postdoc will be expected to produce research papers from their experiments. Presentation of results at national, international meetings and writing manuscripts for publication. Mentorship -The postdoc will supervise undergraduate/graduate researchers performing experimental fly crosses.
Required Qualifications
PhD in biology, genetics, biochemistry or related field from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Concentration in molecular biology and statistical analyses.
Preferred Experience
Experience with genetically tractable model organisms preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
