Job Description

Summary

A postdoctoral associate position in Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. The candidate is expected to have a PhD degree in organic chemistry or a related field, and have a strong track record of relevant publications.

 

The candidate will be a part of a drug discovery program to develop small molecules to block antibiotic resistance and thereby broaden treatment options for bacterial infections. 

Job Duties

  • Designs synthetic routes.
  • Synthesizes, purifies, and characterizes organic compounds as potential small molecule therapeutics.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes experimental data and results.
  • Maintains lab notebooks and other records, and prepares experimental reports, manuscripts and patents.
  • Communicates experimental results with the Principal Investigator.
  • Strictly adheres to lab safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong track record of relevant publications.
