Job Description

Summary

This is a postdoctoral position to investigate genetic basis of craniofacial abnormalities. Our lab has shown that the Foxi3 transcription factor is implicated in craniofacial microsomia, one of the most common craniofacial defects in humans. The candidate will use transcriptomic and epigenetic analysis to understand the mechanism of Foxi3 in craniofacial development, model human pathogenic variants of Foxi3 in mice, and identify other craniofacial microsomia candidates that are part of the Foxi3 gene regulatory or signaling networks.

Job Duties

  • Performs experiments using genetically modified mice, keeping a record of all results and compiling data for publication in research articles and for use future grant proposals,
  • Performs transgenic mouse breeding, colony maintenance and genotyping.
  • Performs histological analysis of transgenic mice and image capture using fluorescent, confocal and light sheet microscopy.
  • Performs purification of labeled cranial tissue using flow cytometry.
  • Prepares bulk and single cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and CUT&RUN libraries and analysis of sequencing data.
  • Presents results and prepares manuscripts for publication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in biomedical sciences.
