Job Description

Summary

A postdoctoral position is available in the Britton laboratory to investigate synthetic biology and microbiome based approaches to prevent and treat human disease. Located within the Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research in the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology, the successful applicant will join a team of researchers focused on translating foundational microbiome research into viable therapies in the clinic. Previous work in Gram-positive genetics is required.
 

Job Duties

  • Explores synthetic biology approaches to engineer probiotic bacteria to enhance intestinal healing and function.
  • Participates in CMMR and Departmental seminars.
    • Opportunity to join a vibrant postdoctoral association.
  • Learns how to cultivate and functionally characterize human microbial communities.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
