Job Description

Researchers interested in postdoctoral fellowships are invited to apply for positions as part of the group led by Dr. Robert Orlowski, Florence Maude Thomas Cancer Research Professor and Director of the Myeloma Section in the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our focus is on developing an expanded understanding of the molecular pathobiology of multiple myeloma and related disorders, validating novel targets and therapeutics that can be translated to the clinic, and understanding mechanisms of resistance that could serve as biomarkers and/or targets for chemosensitization. Current projects of interest focus on the activity of novel, home-grown monoclonal antibodies against several novel targets with the potential for commercialization. These are showing immunomodulatory and direct cytotoxic activity against a variety of tumor models as naked antibodies and/or antibody-drug conjugates, as well as in CAR T-cell formats. A second area of interest is in the use of pre-clinical modeling and clinical sample interrogation using single cell techniques to understand resistance mechanisms to novel immunotherapy agents showing activity against myeloma. Past lab members have gone on to successful careers in both academic and industry settings based on the experience they gained as part of our team.
Successful applicants would be part of an established, well funded, committed, and productive interdisciplinary research team of investigators. Ideal candidates would be molecular, cell, and immune biologists with PhD degrees in a closely related field. They should have experience in single cell RNA and TCR sequencing, immunophenotyping and immune assays, and in vivo tumor modeling. Also, they should have excellent written and spoken (English) communication skills and promote scientific collaboration within the research group.
For those interested, please send a CV, contact information for three references (preferably three letters of recommendation), and a 2 page research statement describing past achievements, skills and research interests.
