Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
The Materials Science Division (MSD) of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position in the area of operando imaging of battery reactions.
The research project aims at elucidating novel local electrochemistry in oxide cathodes. Experimental work involves the design of experimental setups and protocols of synchrotron X-ray microscopy to measure chemical evolution of cathode materials with high spatial and temporal resolution, and the analysis of large data sets using machine learning.
Ph.D. degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related discipline with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent
Strong experimental and theoretical background in electrochemical science
Experience with the design of setups for operando experiments, where electrochemistry is occurring during measurements with a chemical probe (not limited to X-rays)
Programming expertise in Python or other scientific programming languages
Demonstrated analytical skills, critical thinking and independent articulation of sophisticated hypotheses in basic science
Ability to work in a team across different disciplines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
This position will require travel for work at out-of-state or international synchrotron facilities
Experience with inorganic solid-state chemistry
Knowledge of synchrotron-based X-ray imaging to probe local structure and chemical reactivity
