Job DescriptionThe University of Pittsburgh, Departmetnt of Medicine, Division of cardiology is seeking a postdoctoral position. This position is available in the NIH funded laboratory of Dr. Brett Kaufman, whose group studies mitochondrial biogenesis, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) metabolism,and mitochondrial stress responses in human disease and animal genetic models. This position will focus on fundamental aspects of mtDNA biology and the resolution of mtDNA mutations and structures in human and mouse models. In this position, the applicant will be trained in high resolution and live-cell microscopy, DNA structure assessment, and organelle-targeted drug delivery. The applicant will have exposure to the development of novel mouse models for both mechanistic and therapeutic studies.
Qualifications: The research team is an energetic, hardworking group looking for a like-minded colleague. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have experience in molecular or cell biology, and a strong publication track record. The incumbent will have strong written and verbal English communication skills. A Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field is required. Start date is immediate.
