Job Description

Summary

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct original research in vaccinology to prevent and end bacterial infections associated with drug-resistant bacteria. This is a moon-shot, high reward project using the latest computational and molecular approaches to identify ideal vaccine targets that will be tested in cellular, organoid, and animal models with clinical trials anticipated in 2-4 years.

 

The ideal candidate will have substantial knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry, demonstrated success as a recent PhD graduate, creative out-of-the box thinking, and willingness to join and work with a large, highly collaborative research team exploring everything from phage therapeutics, small molecule drug discovery, and new vaccine paradigms to combat the growing antibiotic resistance problem.

 

The successful candidate will assist with project planning, data management, workflow design, and other tasks as needed, including data analysis and generation of status reports. Good communication skills are a must, with demonstrated independent thinking and problem-solving ability. Experience using databases is recommended.

Job Duties

  • Generates new experimental paradigms and designs controlled experiments.
  • Analyzes molecular data including computational tools associated with sequence information and protein antigen design.
  • Be up-to-date with the latest literature and participates in group meetings to discuss findings.
  • Writes scientific manuscripts and grants.
  • Presents research results and conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D in Basic Science, Molecular Biology, Protein Biochemistry, Bacteriology/Microbiology.
