Job Description

We are currently recruiting postdoctoral associates for projects that are at the interdisciplinary intersection of the microbiome, maternal-child health, epigenetics, circadian rhythms, and scalable single-cell technology.

The Jašarevic research group is a hybrid wet-dry research group at Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) and in the Departments of Computational and Systems Biology and Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pennsylvania, USA. Our “wet bench” research interests include 1) mining the human maternal microbiota that contribute to social determinants of disparities in health and disease, 2) developing causal models of longitudinal microbial function and activity during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and 3) defining the epigenetic basis of maternal microbial metabolites on offspring development. Our “dry bench” interests include applying scalable single-cell platform using single-cell transcriptomics and single-cell mass cytometry platforms, and developing scalable computational tools for the analysis of single-cell datasets across temporal scales.

Our research group is unified by a central guiding principle that our science must be an act of service to our communities. Our long-term goals are focused on better understanding the connections between the microbiota and maternal-child health disparities caused by structural and environmental inequities. As such, we strive to build a research group to include scientific and community stakeholders whose lived experiences, perspectives, and interests are echoed in the science we do.
