Salary Range: $99,700- $196,100 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential. What Your Job Will Be Like: The Nanostructure Physics department is seeking an exceptional scientist to perform high-impact fundamental scientific research in the area of computational/theoretical quantum, magentic, and 2-dimensional materials. We are looking for someone who can partner with experimentalists, contribute to and lead proposals, and collaborate with mult-disciplinary teams in pursuit of discovery science in areas of strategic importance to the Department of Energy. Qualifications We Require: + PhD in Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related discipline and a bachelor's in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) + Experience applying ab initio and analytical methods to the study of quantum materials, 2D materials, strongly correlated materials, magnetic materials, and/or superconductors + 3 or more years of experience as a principal investigator + A record of continued successful scientific research as demonstrated by numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals + Able to aquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance Qualifications We Desire: + Active participation in professional societies + Experience mentoring postdocs and students + Experience working on projects funded by DOE Office of Science + Desire to collaborate with other scientists and to enable the success of others + Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills About Our Team: The Nanostructure Physics Department is dedicated to establishing the scientific principles that govern the design, performance, and integration of nanoscale materials into microscale and macroscale systems and devices.
