Job Description

Under general supervision of the utilities maintenance foreman, performs preventative maintenance, operational functions, and repairs to building systems, structures and utilities in strict accordance with established safety practices and procedures.  Although most maintenance personnel work the day shift some off shift coverage may be required.

This job description documents the general nature of work but is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all activities, duties and responsibilities required of job incumbent. Consequently, job incumbent may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties

We expect you should possess a high degree of proficiency in the repair, calibration/adjustment diagnosis, defective component replacement, functional test performance, disassembly and overhauling of at least two major systems listed below:

  • Steam systems
  • Boiler or  Combined Heat and Power Plant maintenance
  • Compressed air systems
  • Plumbing systems / underground piping
  • Electrical systems up to and including 480 volts, emergency generators, and UPS equipment
  • Steam driven mechanical equipment

Position Requirements

  • Minimum two years of technical school training or equivalent in an industrial maintenance program and three years of professional industrial maintenance experience in two or more of the above categories, or
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in industrial maintenance with expertise in two or more of the above categories, or
  • Knowledge of ANL environmental, health and safety policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge and use of a PC are required
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good skills in oral and written communications
  • Ability to work weekend and shift work
  • Complies with all Laboratory and Division Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) policies, work rules, and safe work practices
  • Experience in predictive maintenance processes and methodologies is desired
