We are currently looking for a creative, motivated, and highly skilled Postdoctoral Associate to work in the laboratory of Prof. Nicholas Cosford at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SBP) in La Jolla, CA. As part of the NCI-Designated Cancer Center at SBP, the Cosford lab operates at the cutting edge of chemistry and biology to develop novel therapeutic strategies for major human diseases. The project, funded by multiple NIH grants, will primarily center on studying the biophysical interactions of small molecules and peptides with several protein tyrosine phosphatases involved in cancer, neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, as well as COVID-19-related sepsis and septic shock. The focus of the work will be on the development of novel allosteric modulators and PROTACs towards innovative new approaches for the treatment of those diseases. The successful candidate will conduct independent research in a supportive, collegiate, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. Required Experience

Education

• A Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, cell biology, or a closely related field is required

Experience

• Experience in small molecule biophysical studies is required (e.g., NMR, MST, SPR, FP, BLI, etc.)
• Experience with protein expression and purification is required
• Experience in general biochemical methods is required
• Experience in chemical biology or small molecule drug discovery is a plus
