Job Description
Clinical Education Program at The Jackson Laboratory
The Clinical Education Program (CEP, www.jax.org/ccep) develops and disseminates education for diverse clinical audiences that aims to support the integration of genetics and genomics for improved patient care. CEP supports the translational mission of The Jackson Laboratory by preparing clinicians to evaluate and apply emerging genomic technologies into practice. CEP is situated within JAX Genomic Education (JAXGE) and collaborates with others in the organization to advance genomic education for high school, undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral learners who are focused on careers in the biomedical sciences.
CEP uses multiple channels for developing and disseminating education, including case-based online modules, interactive workshops, grand rounds, webinars, blended courses, blogs, web resources and social media. With a focus on maximizing outcomes and the learner experience, CEP has an ongoing effort to explore evidence-based, interactive, and active learning approaches to reach CEP’s audiences. Current content priorities include, but are not limited to, cancer genomics, cardiogenomics and precision medicine. Through collaboration with the Maine Cancer Genomics Initiative (www.jax.org/mcgi), CEP has a strategic goal to develop and deliver precision oncology education to oncologists in Maine and nation-wide. In addition to these specialties, CEP focuses on education for clinicians in rural, community and underserved settings. CEP strives to create an inclusive learning environment and develop education that addresses clinical needs of diverse patients.
CEP is a highly collaborative team that follows an evidence-based education development process. CEP will provide on-the-job training and professional development on evidence-based education development, as needed. Due to the nature of the work and dispersed locations of team members, the team uses multiple technologies and systems for education development and communication daily.
