Postdoctoral Fellow - Leukemia Research (Hussein Abbas, M.D., Ph.D.)
Job posting number: #7098204 (Ref:600411-202202181423)
Posted: April 18, 2022
Application Deadline: May 22, 2022
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with computational and statistical background to work on immunogenomic profiling projects focusing on leukemia in the lab of Hussein A. Abbas, MD, Ph.D. at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our lab is interested in understanding the biology of myeloid leukemias. We leverage bulk and single-cell innovative immunogenomics, epigenomics, and bioinformatics approaches to better understand leukemogenesis, resistance mechanisms to chemo and immunotherapy, and deep profiling of the cellular & functional heterogeneity of leukemic cells, and the diverse cell populations within the tumor immune microenvironment. We will primarily be utilizing patient samples allowing us to interrogate translational questions that have immediate clinical impact.
Prospective candidates will learn skills in immunogenomics and single-cell sequencing data analysis, and cancer-specific bioinformatics. Also, postdoctoral fellows will learn study design, data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and manuscript writing. The postdoctoral fellow will carry out integrative analysis of the bulk and single-cell sequencing (RNA/TCR/BCR/ATAC-seq), CRISPR screening, and immunogenomic datasets generated on clinical specimens from primary patient samples on clinical trials to comprehensively characterize the tumor ecosystem and identify predictive/prognostic signatures/biomarkers and potential targets that could be harnessed to design rational therapeutic interventions. The postdoctoral fellow will have great opportunities to collaborate with diverse groups of physician-scientists, laboratory scientists, and computational biologists at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Individuals with a Ph.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or a related field are encouraged to apply. A strong computational background, proficiency in R and at least one additional scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl), and knowledge in biostatistics are required. We will provide guidance through navigating different areas of translational research. A proven track record of publications and excellent spoken and written communication skills are required.
The appointment is available immediately.
