Job Description
A post-doctoral fellowship in Cancer Biology and Epigenetics is immediately available in the lab of Dr. Margarida Santos at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The research will focus on the intersection of epigenetics and the DNA Damage Response (DDR) in cancer initiation, progression and targeting. The long-term goal is to understand the mechanisms through which Epigenetic regulation and its interplay with the DDR occurs during normal differentiation and how these processes become disrupted in human diseases and use this information to develop specific and potent therapeutic strategies.Training and research activities will include work with genetic mouse models of Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, as well as human cell lines and patient derived samples. Next Generation Sequencing, such as RNA-seq and ChIP-seq, and CRISPR screens will be performed among other molecular biology techniques. Fluorescent/confocal microscopy and flow cytometry are also components of the research program.
Dr. Santos’ laboratory has received numerous prestigious awards and strong funding support. For more information, please visit https://faculty.mdanderson.org/profiles/margarida_albuquerquealmeidasantos.html

An excellent publication record (only candidates with one or more first-authored publications in a high impact journal(s) will be considered), along with experience in generating/characterizing mouse models, flow cytometry, viral transduction, mammalian cell culture and next generation sequencing is required. Previous experience in scientific writing or grant preparation in English is required. Please apply via link below with your CV, Publication(s), and Statement of Research Experience and Interest.
