The research group led by Professor Lenny Shultz at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine is seeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in the development of cutting edge humanized mouse models and the application of these novel models to the study of human hematopoiesis, cancer immunotherapy, regenerative medicine, diabetes and infectious diseases. This position is ideally suited for an individual with a strong background in immunology who is also interested in learning mouse molecular genetics and pathology. Dr. Shultz and his colleagues at JAX have significant expertise in the genetics of immunodeficiency, and ample opportunities will be provided for independent training in cutting edge genomics, including genome editing. Dr. Shultz is a member of the JAX Cancer Program and carries out collaborative funded research projects with colleagues at JAX and with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he has a joint appointment, as well as The Harvard Stem Cell Institute.  His research is funded by NIH grants as well as a grant from the JDRF Center of Excellence on a project focused on the cure of type I diabetes with human iPS cell-derived beta cells. Required Skills:

A background in immunology is required. We value the ability to plan, execute and analyze an independent research project as well as exceptional verbal, written communication skills, adaptability, and desire for lifelong learning.


  • MD  Ph.D. or DVM in biological or related life sciences is required.
  • Background in immunology and phenotyping, with interests in learning genetics and pathology.
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Self-motivated;
  • Experience working with rodent models
