Job Description

Summary

The Pharmacology and Chemical Biology Department at Baylor College of Medicine have a position open for a postdoctoral researcher with experience in natural products isolation.

Job Duties

  • Leads a number of research projects centered on the isolation of microbial natural products and elucidation of biological mechanisms.
  • Serves as a foundational member of an emerging laboratory, and thus expected to manage and execute projects with limited direct supervision.
  • Communicates within a group setting effectively and proactively, and provides secondary mentorship towards potential trainees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with small molecule isolation methods, including column chromatography and HPLC/LCMS.
  • Experience with chemical structure elucidation via NMR.
  • Any familiarity with microbiology or molecular biology would be considered an asset.
  • Fluent in English; written and oral.
  • Self-motivated.
