About our Research

Our research interests lie in the intersection between cardiology and oncology, with specific focus on cancer therapy-induced cardiovascular complications. By leveraging clinical samples, multi-omics, and patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) platforms, we work to define the mechanisms of cancer therapy-induced cardiovascular complications and thereby identify diagnostic and preventive/therapeutic measures. We are looking for a candidate to join this highly productive research group to perform cutting-edge multi-omics analysis (of clinical samples as well as stem cell products) as well as ML/DL-based imaging and clinical data analysis.



Position Summary

This is a full-time 2-year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. Salary for postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree. Under the supervision of the principal investigators (Dr Saro Armenian and Dr. June-Wha Rhee), the successful candidate will carry out the research projects, contributing to the design of the experimental approach, conducting bioinformatics analysis, presenting the project’s outcomes in international conferences, preparing manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, and training junior trainees in the lab. We are looking for a creative, motivated, and independent researcher with a doctoral degree and a strong background in computational biology and/or bioinformatics including ML/DL approaches.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Have obtained a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO or Master’s degree) or equivalent training in computational biology, bioinformatics, or data science.
  • Broad knowledge of statistical, mathematical analysis, computer algorithm, programming, and database theory and methods.  Knowledge of molecular biology preferred.
  • Experience using UNIX/LINUX and high performance computing.
  • Experience in R or similar commonly used statistical languages.
  • Basic knowledge with Python, Perl, or other languages.
  • Experience with statistical, spreadsheet, graphics and word-processing software packages.
  • Proficiency in English writing and communication skills.

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Bioinformatics, computational biology, computational science, data science, statistics, or mathematics, engineering, genomics/genetics or related fields
  • Perform complex data analysis and other duties as required for technologies including but not limited to RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, whole-exome or -genome sequencing, and multi-ome. Familiarity with ML/DL approaches as well as clinical/imaging data analysis would also be beneficial.
