Job Description

Summary

The Division of Cardiothoracic Transplant and Circulatory Support in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral associate to study increasing heart transplantation by using organs from donors after circulatory death. The purpose of the research is to increase the number of heart transplants that can be performed in the United States by devising a safe, innovative protocol whereby donor hearts can be removed, preserved in an innovative fashion, and transplanted with good results.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments. 30%
  • Evaluates and analyzes data. 20%
  • Participates in donor runs for organ procurement. 10%
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures. 10%
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 10%
  • Responsible for laboratory operations. 10%
  • Supervises research staff. 10%

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
