Job Description

Summary

This individual will design and conduct experiments in areas of microbiome and neuroimmune signaling on gastrointestinal disease susceptibility.  This individual will perform microbiome bioinformatics and will examine the role of selective microbial species on disease susceptibility to CDI and IBD. A strong background in microbial ecology  and microbiome is highly desirable.

Job Duties

  • Participates in funded research projects and assists the laboratory in obtaining additional funding.
  • Designs and conducts experiments in areas of microbiome and neuroimmune signaling on gastrointestinal function and disease susceptibility. 
  • Examines the role of selective microbial species as an unexplored contributor to CDI and IBD in patients.
  • Performs systems biology studies, linking omics data analysis and collection, and proficient in research methods centered on microbiome and microbial ecology.
  • Assists with gnotobiotic studies in the Texas Childrens Microbiome Center.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in studying microbial ecology or microbiome is highly preferred.
