Job Description


The lab of Dr. Ali Jalali in the Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. The successful applicant will join a research group interested in unraveling the molecular drivers of brain tumors as well as testing various therapeutic approaches. The applicant will be employed to carry out advanced independent and directed research to achieve the objectives of the research project. Interested applicants must have expertise in molecular and cellular biology as well as mouse modeling.

Job Purpose

Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional.

Job Duties

  • Plans and conducts day-to-day experimental activities relating to assigned research projects.
  • Uses in depth knowledge of concepts to implement complex research plans, data collection, analysis and evaluation.
  • Presents research findings at internal meetings and conferences.
  • Contributes to scientific literature as well as research proposals and grant applications.
  • Adheres to experimental protocols required for project advancement.
  • Retains accurate records of research findings and analysis of results in a detailed up-to-date laboratory notebook.
  • Utilizes safe laboratory protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of six months to a year of experience in basic science research. 
  • Needs to have mouse modeling, cell culture techniques and molecular biology experience.
