Job Description

Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time. : Are you passionate about brain-inspired algorithm development? Our team is seeking a mathematician or computer scientist postdoctoral appointee to conduct research on theory and application of brain-inspired algorithm development in collaboration with our group of neuroscientists and computer scientists. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Develop and extend brain-inspired algorithms that use stochastic methods, such as probabilistic neural networks + Research probabilistic methods for artificial intelligence and numerical simulations that can be used on neuromorphic computing hardware + Develop new application areas for neural-inspired computing in fields like high-performance computing, remote sensing, and cybersecurity + Publish research results in journals and competitive conference venues

+ Have, or are pursuing, a PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field + Experience in customizing algorithms to specialized architectures such as neuromorphic hardware, FPGAs, GPUs, or machine learning accelerators + Experience in a programming language such as Python, C++, or MATLAB + Able to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

+ Interest in neural-inspired and ground breaking machine learning algorithms (e.g. reinforcement learning, deep neural networks, spiking neural networks, recurrent neural networks) + Interest in applied probability and stochastic processes + Experience with computational architectures such as GPUs, FPGAs, neuromorphic processors, or machine learning accelerators + Experience with neural network modeling languages (PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, etc) or neural modeling languages (PyNN, NEST, NEURON, etc) + Prior research publications in neuroscience journals or machine learning conferences

Cognitive & Emerging Computing department (Org. 01421) pursues foundational research and development of:- emerging general-purpose energy-efficient and beyond-Moore computing paradigms;- cognitive, brain-inspired and neuromorphic computing, human-machine interface technologies;- advanced heterogenous architectures based on integrated commodity components, special purpose accelerators, neural architectures and algorithms. Security Clearance:
