Job Description

Summary

The Postdoctoral Associate will design and conduct experiments in areas of microbiome and neurological signaling on gastrointestinal function and disease susceptibility.  The Postdoctoral Associate will examine the role of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant exposure in pregnancy as an unexplored contributor to FGIDs in children.

 

Job Purpose

Postdoctoral Associates are trainees working in an apprenticeship mode in preparation for a career as a scientific professional.

Job Duties

  • Participate in funded research projects and assist the laboratory in obtaining additional funding.
  • Design and conduct experiments in areas of microbiome and neuroimmune signaling on gastrointestinal function and disease susceptibility.
  • Examine the role of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant exposure in pregnancy as an unexplored contributor to FGIDs in children.
  • Perform systems biology studies, linking omics data analysis and collection, and should be proficient in research methods centered in the molecular biology.
  • Head up a molecular biology capability within the Texas Children's Microbiome Center.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong background in molecular biology and microbiome is highly desirable.
