Job Description

Postdoctoral Associate will work on identifying genes involved in undiagnosed rare diseases using the  "humanized Drosophila" strategy. The current projects are focusing on candidate variants in genes identified in patients with rare neurodevelopmental disorders. Postdoc will try to demonstrate that the variants cause the disease, or not. Postdoctoral Associate will use different assays to characterize the phenotypes of the flies with loss of function mutation in the candidate genes, and then tests whether expressing corresponding human proteins rescue the phenotypes. This position will then test the variants form the patients and assesses if they affect protein function. This position will also investigate the conserved mechanisms underlying the function of the genes to provide targets for therapy of the diseases.
