Job Description

The Malek Lab at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is recruiting Postdoctoral fellows to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms contributing to regulatory T cell-based immunotherapy of autoimmune diseases, with a focus on type 1 diabetes. Current projects offer the opportunity to participate in highly translational and collaborative effort aimed at re-regulating immune responses to restore tolerance by selectively boosting regulatory T cells through the application of limiting amounts of IL-2 or novel IL-2 analogs with improved pharmacology. Our efforts encompass mechanistic studies on how low dose IL-2 acts on human Treg and T effector cells. Underpinning this effort is a new phase 2 multi-center clinical trial in type 1 diabetes organized at the University of Miami. Mouse models are also used to further define the activity of such pathways in vivo.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral-level degree in a relevant field of study. Prior experience in immunology, including mouse models of autoimmune disease, human immunology, flow cytometry, tissue imaging and/or in molecular biology and bioinformatics is preferred. Highly motivated individuals with a recent Ph.D., a strong track record of research as evidenced by publications in peer reviewed journals, and excellent communication skills are encouraged to apply. Please upload and submit a cover letter that includes why you are interested in this position, a curriculum vitae and names of three references when applying.
