Job Description

Inaugural postdoctoral position at MyoKardia investigating the role of different proteins of interest in genetically-driven cardiomyopathies.

MyoKardia is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that seeks to improve patients' lives by both pioneering a precision medicine approach to discover targeted therapies for the treatment of serious/rare cardiovascular disease, as well as by increasing the scientific understanding of normal and pathological cardiac function.

As such, a joint research group between MyoKardia and its academic founders is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with a background in striated muscle biology, with a recent PhD in cell or molecular biology, to join the organization. The work, expected to encompass a two-year tenure with a possible extension, will conduct mechanistic investigation of the proteins of the cardiac sarcomere, performing functional and quantitative characterization, assessment of stability, as well as protein-protein interactions. He/she will also be involved in helping with the characterization and development of cell-based assays using primary and iPSC-derived cardiac myocytes. In addition, the successful candidate will interact cross-functionally with teams involved in drug discovery and development, and will have the opportunity to work with other departments of interest

• Participate in weekly group meetings, and monthly journal club
• Present annually, in an all-employees meeting, a project progress report
• Attend, annually, at least one external scientific conference

• Ph.D in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline, within the last 5 years
• Striated-muscle biology background is essential

• Experience and knowledge in cell and molecular biology
• Background in cardiovascular biology a plus
• Previous experience in gene editing, mammalian cell culture and transfections
• Experience performing live-cell imaging, and other microscopy techniques
• Ability to work cross-functionally with other members of the team
• Industry experience not necessary
• Must have the ability to troubleshoot, be self-motivated, independent, data-driven, and not afraid of challenging the known
