Job Description

The candidate will update and maintain Argonne’s JOBS Models, which estimate the economic impacts of deploying and operating infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) and other fuels, as well as the JOBS EV model which estimates impacts from all phases of EV production. The candidate also will assist in analyses of employment and other macroeconomic impacts of various transportation decarbonization pathways and policies with a focus on electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.

The candidate also will support assessments of equity and distributional impacts of alternative fuel and vehicle infrastructure deployment planning, implementation pathways, and policy design under federal funding such as the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program. The candidate will support syntheses of resources, tools, models, and lessons learned from reviews of State Plans for EV infrastructure deployment, as well as applications for funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, pertinent research and literature.

Position Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree and 0-1 year of experience.

  • Knowledge of macroeconomic impact analysis, focusing on clean energy technologies and fueling infrastructure deployment.    

  • Knowledge of various aspects of advanced vehicle technologies and fueling technologies, including current and candidate fuels used or likely to be used in transportation systems.

  • Knowledge of cross-sectoral (transportation, industry, commercial, etc.) energy models and energy modeling.

  • Quantitative analysis skills to analyze a large quantity of data.

  • Skills in oral and written communications and presentations at all levels of the organization.

  • Skills using computer software (MS Office, SAS, and similar), including working knowledge of Excel Macro (VBA) or C++ (or similar language).

  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-cutting issues in inter-disciplinary settings and time management in a team environment.
