Job Description

Postdoctoral Associate | SenNet Tissue Mapping Center

Robson Lab

Farmington, CT

The Robson lab is seeking an independent, highly motivated PhD-level scientist (<2 years postdoc experience) to join our efforts as a Tissue Mapping Center (TMC) in the NIH Common Fund’s Cellular Senescence Network (SenNet) Program (https://sennetconsortium.org). The overarching goal of this Program is to identify and characterize senescence cells in intact human and mouse tissues. We employ advanced tissue mapping technologies inclusive of single cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, multiplexed in situ analysis, and multiplexed antibody-based imaging. In addition, we use human iPSC-derived cellular systems to model developmental senescence in a dish. Target tissues for our TMC include the placenta (for developmental senescence), kidney, pancreas, and adipose tissue. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in cell and molecular biology and tissue physiology. The individual would work within the Biological Analysis Core of our SenNet TMC and be responsible for implementing (from design to execution) tissue mapping approaches working closely with the expert scientific staff within the Single Cell Biology Laboratory Scientific Service. In addition, the individual would be involved in the interpretation and analysis of the resulting data, working closely with the Data Analysis Core of our SenNet TMC. As part of the SenNet Program, this talented individual would have access to a world-class consortium of experts in tissue mapping technologies and senescence biology. Regular interactions and presentations within the larger SenNet Program is expected.

Dr. Robson oversees the single cell and tissue mapping capabilities of The Jackson Laboratory as a whole and, within his own research program at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, has specific interests in early embryonic development, in vitro cellular modeling of human biology, and how the biology of early development (and the placenta) may provide insight into and/or impact later in life biology (e.g., solid tumor biology, senescence) through the pleiotropic effect of genes undergoing natural selection at these early post-fertilization stages.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology or related field of study.
  • Prior research experience in at least two of the following areas: pluripotent stem cell biology and differentiation, cellular physiology, next-generation genome sequencing assays, tissue analysis inclusive of extensive antibody-based imaging approaches.
  • Experience in single cell technologies for transcriptomics, flow cytometry (or other forms of cytometric analyses), cellular histology and image analysis is particularly desirable.
  • Candidates should have a publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, able to work independently and effectively with other members in a productive team.
  • Experience with R, Python or similar statistical package in the context of genomic data analyses and bioinformatics is an asset.

**Please submit your current CV, at least 2 letters of reference, and 1-page (maximum) statement of Research Interests and Career Goals at time of application. **

We are a diverse and inclusive research group, aspiring to produce top science and scientists through attentive and progressive mentoring and interdisciplinary teamwork.
