Job Description


The post-doctoral candidate will be expected to contribute to the broad research effort in the Texas Children’s Cancer Hstiocytosis and Lymphoma Program Lab. The ideal candidate will conduct laboratory experiments on research projects with focus on immunology, immune disorders, lymphoproliferative disorders and lymphomas.  The candidate will keep abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques and developments within area of research; successfully compete for extramural funding from National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health, Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, and additional foundation grant sources; summarize data and provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians. In addition to directly performing the proposed immunology and molecular biology experiments, the candidate will coordinate studies with collaborating clinical and translational research teams. Experience with single cell RNAseq + ATAC and spatial transcriptomics would be preferred. 

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory experiments:

    • A range of basic and translational research techniques will include processing of human and mouse tissues, maintenance of tissue culture, maintenance of mouse colonies, extraction and preparation of nucleic acids and proteins, flow cytometry and PCR.
  • Documents result of experiments.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data; prepares reports, develops presentations and publications.
  • Participates in grant writing and identification of funding sources.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree.
    • Candidates are expected to have degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, including qPCR, western blots, Immunohistochemistry, RNAi, mutagenesis, and cell proliferation and migration assays. 
  • Experience with single cell RNAseq + ATAC and spatial transcriptomics.
